The structure of the Longueuil Urban Agglomeration is defective and must be modified. Its governance is problematic and successive elected representatives from our respective municipal administrations have all come to the same conclusion. The Minister must therefore modify the governance of the agglomeration by legislative means, or else dismantle it. The financial and democratic health of our cities requires no less.

If the Agglomeration is not reformed, it will remain inequitable and another structure, such as a regional county municipality (MRC), will have to be proposed.

Here is an outline of the solution that Brossard, Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville and Saint-Lambert propose:

  • Create a separate independent entity with its own dedicated management and employees (the MRC model)
  • Cost sharing to be calculated in the following manner: 50% based on tax valuation and 50% based on population
  • Each mayor would have one vote
  • Change the name of the agglomeration
